After App in the Air

App in the Air left the app stores on September 19, 2024, with two days’ notice. If it was where your trips lived, here’s an honest look at what TripTidy picks up, and what it doesn’t.

What TripTidy picks up

  • Your trips, without typing them in. Connect Gmail read-only, or forward booking emails from any inbox, and flights, hotels, rental cars, trains and dinners become one day-by-day itinerary.
  • Live flight alerts. Delays, gate changes and cancellations, from FlightAware data and often before the airline’s own email, with the flight on your Lock Screen and a live map from gate to gate.
  • The airport. A gate map with you on it, the lounges by terminal, and the walk to a tight connection. Browse airports.
  • When to leave. A leave-by time for every plan, priced against predicted traffic, and a check of everything downstream when a flight is delayed.
  • Other people’s flights. Type a flight number to watch it, with a pickup time aimed at the curb.

What it doesn’t do

  • Loyalty programs. TripTidy doesn’t track miles, points or status.
  • Your App in the Air history. There’s no importer for its data export. Past trips come back from your inbox instead: connecting Gmail scans back through old confirmations.
  • Flight statistics. Lifetime miles and maps of every flight you’ve taken are Flighty’s speciality, not ours.
  • Android. TripTidy is iOS only for now.

What it costs

Everything is free during the open beta. At launch, building your trips stays free, and TripTidy Pro, which keeps watch over live flights and everything a delay puts at risk, is planned at $39.99/year with the first month free. Full pricing.
